trolley problem?
lunchbox asked:
here`s another knotty legal problem to sort out ; not a theoretical one,but an actual incident ; a friend of mine was leaving the local branch of T****`s and putting his trolley in the park area, noticed a packet of chicken legs,in the trolley, under a discarded shopping bag.Taking a closer look and finding the receipt,it was obvious they had been bought some 25 minues earlier, and the customer had overlooked them.He then picked up the receipt, and chicken legs, and put them in his own shopping bag. He was spotted by a T**** employee, and the store detective was involved, threatening him with dire consequences unless he returned the chicken legs.
My point is this - the articles had been paid for, admittedly not by him,and the original customer was long gone,so why is he being hassled in this way ?? A solicitor is currently looking at his case….
local police station is only open part - time, and it was a warm day.Plus, my friend had just spent £15 in the store. As the total cost of the chicken was approx. £2,40,would the customer really have driven back to reclaim them,or phoned the store to ask if they were handed in ??
plus,he had no intention (initially) of consuming them, merely to keep them in his freezer until something was sorted out
